How we handle your personal and health information.

Candid Hearing is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Health information is sensitive information under that Act and is handled accordingly.
To assess and treat your hearing, to keep an accurate clinical record over time, to claim on your behalf from the Hearing Services Program, Medicare, DVA, NDIS, WorkCover or your health fund, and to contact you about appointments and recalls. We cannot provide audiology care without it.
We disclose your information only where it is necessary, and to:

This is a static website. It does not run a chatbot, it has no account system, and it does not store submissions on a server.
Clinical records are held in secure practice software with access limited to the audiologist. Paper records, where they exist, are held in locked storage. We are required to retain adult health records for at least seven years from the last occasion of service, and for a child, until they turn twenty-five.
You can ask to see your health information and to have anything inaccurate corrected. Write to info@candidhearing.com.au or call 0414 690 044. We may need to verify your identity, and in limited circumstances set out in the Privacy Act we may need to refuse access, in which case we will explain why in writing.
If you think your privacy has been mishandled, raise it with us first at info@candidhearing.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
